Jars Of Clay Debuts Brand New Song, "Closer," On iTunes

Band planning new EP to include re-recordings of "Flood" and "Love Song For A Savior"

NEWS SOURCE: Jars Of Clay, a Jesusfreakhideout.com report
July 9, 2008

With a Fall tour looming that finds them opening for Third Day, Switchfoot, and Robert Randolph, Jars Of Clay has been hard at work on a new studio album. In the meantime, not only is the band planning for a brand new EP (which sees two original fan favorites being re-recorded), but as of yesterday, the guys have released the new album's first single, "Closer," to iTunes for just .99 cents. Below is guitarist Steve Mason's announcement...

"Hey friends! Some exciting news.

We're into our second stretch of writing new material for our next record and we wanted to let you in on how it's going!

There will be a sneak peek, in the form of a new song! Look for the new song "Closer" on my birthday, July 8th, exclusively on iTunes! It's the only way to hear it early…

We worked on this song with the wonderful and talented Ron Aniello, who worked with us previously on Who We Are Instead and Good Monsters, too! This song will be included on an EP we'll have coming out soon. Along with some songs you've not heard yet will be two favorites of ours, "Flood" and "Lovesong For A Savior," that we've recorded again, and given a new sound to...

Lastly, we'll be selling that EP on the road in the late summer/early fall as we head out with 3rd Day, Switchfoot and Robert Randolph. We've gotten to know most of the folks that will be out with us, and we're looking forward to seeing how we all collaborate together. It's gonna be a great night on the "Music Builds Tour."

I hope you come out and see it!

S."
